KellyName: Kelly Kioko
Position: Director, Africampers
Home: Nairobi

Ex-street kid and now a qualified tour guide, Kelly has climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and is now Director of Africampers which is our subsidiary firm in Kenya. Kelly is 22 years old but is now in charge of multiple operations, up to 40 staff and a very healthy company.

Kelly was a street child in the slums of Nairobi when Gavin first met him twelve years ago. At the time Kelly was trying to pickpocket him. A friendship developed, reinforced by many hours and days spent on the streets, and in the boy Gavin recognised a natural wit and intellect which simply had to be given opportunity to grow. Kelly is now a model citizen, educated and a provider for his family. He has a daughter Jasmine with his partner Halima.

Once supported by the charity Moving Mountains, Kelly is now a Trustee of Moving Mountains Kenya which is the operational wing of the charity in East Africa.

Kelly is perceptive, articulate, humorous, modest and motivated. He helps others and understands the meaning of self-esteem, for there was a time when he had none. Kelly brings to Adventure Alternative immense character and potential, in all areas of safaris and expeditions.

There can be no better person to guide clients into the slums and show people the reality of street kids. In keeping with the policy of providing gainful employment to beneficiaries of the charity, Kelly is an ever-popular member of our Kenyan team, brimming with happiness and the biggest smile you will ever see.
